Brake Service
The braking system on a vehicle is the most important safety system. We offer a free brake inspection at every service where we thoroughly check the brake pads, rotors, callipers and brake fluid. Brake pads wear over time and need to be replaced at about 50,000kms or every 3 years. Our brake pads and rotors have a 1 year or 20,000km warranty. Our workmanship carries a lifetime warranty.
Brake rotors are checked for any warpage, damage or scoring and brake fluid is tested for overall condition and performance. Brake rotors are the shiny discs at the wheels. Brake pads are forced onto this when the brakes are applied.
The rear of some vehicles have a drum style brake system where there is a brake shoe instead of brake pads and rotors. These are not replaced as often as brake pads and rotors.
A brake inspection is required when:
- 1. The brakes have a squealing or grinding noise
- 2. When the brake pedal shudders
- 3. Ineffective braking and not stopping quick enough
It is very important to make sure that the brake condition of your vehicle is up to standard to ensure quick and effective braking for you and your family’s safety.
It is not normal if you notice that your vehicles brake pedal feels soft or spongy. This means that there are air pockets or air bubbles in your brake lines. Air that is in your brake lines will cause low hydraulic pressure throughout the system which means that your brake pads are not fully pressed onto your rotors. If this issue is not dealt with early then it will only get worse, eventually causing the brake pads to not engage with the rotors at all. If you notice soft or spongey brakes in your vehicle then we suggest that you bring your car in immediately for an inspection and brake fluid flush, to bleed all of the air out of the lines and to ensure that your vehicle stops promptly.
